Singapore (4th - 9th Sept 2010)

So, here it is. The Singapore trip entry. Actually, there's nothing much to blog about because I didn't do any touristy thing there, like visiting the zoo and marine sands. Okay, to make up, I took one picture at the Merlion Park. Yea, that's it, the only touristy thing I did. Initially, I thought I was going to cancel the trip because of the accident [if you remember]. Anyway, I still book a ticket and went. So, the decision is err kind of like last minute. The worst thing is I forgotten that I'm a digi user now and I don't have international roaming. So, basically I can't make or receive any calls or even sms when I step in the Lion City and I didn't notice that until I need to make a call =S But I was really really lucky to met a really really kind Singaporean who lend me his phone to make a call, or I should said a few calls and SMSes and even accompanied me at the bus stop until Bi Yang came. How lucky I was!!!

The first day was tiring because of the 5-hour bus ride and all the walking with the luggage. The first thing I do in Singapore is eat! I was so hungry! No breakfast, no lunch!

And this is the first meal I had the whole day.
Some Fu Zhou Seafood Mee. Even though I was starving, I find it err ... not very nice =p

The next day, woke up late and had brunch at this place which, according to the book I bought, had won some kind of award for their duck rice. To my biggest disappointment, I find duck rice back in Malaysia is way more delicious than that!

The duck rice

No idea what it this but it's kind of tasteless =S

Side dish that comes together with the kuey teow-like food above

The rest of the day? I spent it all looking for affordable hotels to stay in =S And the cheapest, most decent-looking hotel I got cost around RM600 for four-night stay and I'm aching because someone's wallet is bleeding because he was the one paying for the hotel =(

The third day, which was a Monday, Ying and Sing Yee came and we went shopping in Bugis Street and we saw Emily in Bugis Junction! XD

See! We think of you wherever we go! =p
All three of us took turn to take this pic but I find Sing Yee's is nicer, so I put this up =p

And I finally met with Piggie that night! Too bad, no pictures of us; only the desserts we had in Bugis Junction.

Green Tea ice cream with cheese cake ..
Highly recommended by piglet!
Maybe I had too high of an expectation because she told me this is very nice, I'm a little disappointed. But, it's not too bad because it's not too sweet or taste too much like cheese XD [FYI, I'm not a fan of cheesecake]

Sesame ice cream with ice red bean

I have no idea what it's called but the portion is huge!

The third day, I went shopping alone at Bugis Street again coz don't feel like going somewhere too far alone. I literally dragged myself back to the hotel because of the stomach ache and I couldn't get a cab T.T I had stomach ache everyday when I was in Singapore. Imagine that, everyday! And the worst day was the third day because when I got back to the hotel, I threw up so badly till my throat hurts =S But thank god, I felt so much better after that. Without wasting time, I head straight down to the front desk, called a cab and went to Joo Chiat Road to get the infamous cake for his birthday!

Oh yes, the shop's name is Obolo.
According to the book I bought, the shop owner was an architect and he gave up his high-pay job and started this patisserie because of his passion in baking.
I saw him in the shop and he's young and very polite =)

New York and Noisette; the two bestseller
Oh, I love the succulent strawberries on New York and they're huge and sweet!

And Noisette, the chocolate-type cake which I thought I won't like but it surprised me!
It was soooooo nice! There's something crunchy inside, not nuts and I suppose it's something called praline feulletine [that's what I read from the menu]
Gosh, this is so nice! I wish they have this in Malaysia =(
If you think Secret Recipe is nice, wait till you try this!
It even beats the cake that cost RM15 per slice I had in Megan Avenue years ago!
Anyway, great thing came with great price too. They are not cheap.

Macaroons
Clockwise: Raspberry, Mango-Passion, Hazelnut-Chocolate and Bittersweet chocolate
They had so many types but I asked the owner to choose only four for me coz it cost S$2.20 each! Again, the one I thought I won't like turned out to be the best!
Bittersweet chocolate was the best!

Array of cakes

Different types of macaroons
So colourful that I feel like getting one of each colour!

I'm glad that we had at least two slice of cake for the little birthday celebration. I hope he like it. =)

The next day, I went shopping alone again after lunch. This time being adventurous, I tried to find the way to Suntec City Mall but ended up in Citilink Mall and finally got something for Ying there. We planned to exchange gifts after our trip in Johor and Singapore. So, that's what the gift is for =p And I finally have the guts to go somewhere farther, stopped at Tangs at Orchard and got myself a cute little bag and head to Far East Mall. There's so many nice and cheap stuff in there and I only managed to finish two floors. =( I should have come to this place earlier!

Oh, before I forget, there are some good foods in Singapore too and not just all bad and tasteless foods lar.
This petai with minced meat is goooooood!
It makes me felt like I was home though the petai my mom cooked is nothing like this one. =p

And this fruit juice stall in Chinatown is famous for its cactus juice. But too bad, I don't have the nerve to try it =( I ordered passion fruit juice instead. Something good about this is they are genuine fruit juice and the boss used 4 passion fruits to prepare my drink, something I can only enjoy at home! All the passion fruit juice I had in restaurants or cafe or anywhere else in Malaysia are made out of syrup.

And there's so many other types!
Wheatgrass, coconut, bitter gourd, calamansi, kiwi, apple, guave, dragon fruit etc

Oyster omelette

And fried prawn mee in Wisma Atria's Food Republic
The queue was so long that I decided not to look around and just follow the crowd =p

Tong shui at Hua Tuo Guan
Very expensive!! S$3 each bowl but they were really nice!
And this really made me miss my mom's tong shui!

The must-take-shot in Singapore XD
At Merlion Park
Look at how beautiful Marina Bay Sands is!
I'll make sure I pay a visit the next time! =)

Ohhhh .. one last thing! I've finally tried Tenji! I personally think Zanmai or Sakae serve better sushi .. but the grilled lamb and tiramisu there were nice! Especially the tiramisu! Yum!!

Hmmm ... That's all for now! I shall get to bed now coz I had an interview tomorrow morning! Good night, everyone! =)
